We are delighted to have won the overall prize at this year’s British Cheese Awards….

British cheese awards

This year's British Cheese Awards, held last week at the Royal Bath & West Show, saw the Matthews & Skailes Cup awarded to Cropwell Bishop Creamery for its Blue Shropshire cheese.

"We are exceptionally proud to have won this prestigious award which we last won back in 1957," said Robin, one of our directors here at the creamery. "It is fantastic recognition for the hard work all of our team put in to crafting traditional, high quality cheese. To win the Supreme Champion Cheese out of 910 entries is a truly incredible feat.

"It is especially memorable for us to win this particular trophy, as my grandfather, Frank Skailes, donated it to the show society some 70 years ago, so it is somehow fitting that it has now been awarded to us, as we continue his legacy of artisan cheese making.

"The picture below shows the next generation of Skailes cheese makers proudly holding up their Great Grandfather's Cup."
